Malayan Tapir from Khao Sok National Park

There are four species of Tapir in the world. Three of them are in the Americas and one is over here. The one that's over here is much bigger. Tapirs are odd-toed ungulates (same family as horses and rhinoceroses). Their front feet have four toes and their back feet have three toes.

This photo was taken in Khao Sok.  For more Tapir images, see this trip report

Reticulated Python image from Phang Nga Province Hike Tour

This is a stunning Reticulated Python that we came across in Phang Nga Province on a hike on September 18th. We were quite remote at the time, having just climbed up and over a very tall mountain.  For more images of a python see this python image gallery

Wild Edible Fruit in the Phang Nga Province Jungle

The variety and abundance of wild jungle food, especially fruit, is truly amazing. From March through early June you could go hiking in the jungle in Phang Nga Province and not really have to carry lunch.  Read more about our Phang Nga Province jungle survival courses.  If you're not into survival activities, this is a superb place to simply go for a nice hike. There are several days' worth of trails in this area.

Phuket Jungle Hiking Tour

Went hiking today with a lovely family from Hong Kong (Scottish folks). This is the Bang Pae Waterfall. Later in the day, instead of figuring out the loop that I'd only done one other time before and had in my GPS, I got, um, temporarily misaligned... and ended up going to a different park. Oh well, there was a van there and he gave us a ride back to our vehicles... sorted. That's one thing nice about being here, no matter where you are, you can get a ride.

This is the same area where we offer our Phuket Jungle Survival Courses
